Family,
My thought, a day late, comes from Gospel Principles. We had the lesson in Relief Society entitled scriptures. Personally I have not been very deligent in reading my scriptures everyday. Shame on me, but I know that the promises we recieve if we do this are real. "If we desire to avoid the evils of this world, we must feed our minds with the truth and righteousness found in the scriptures. We will grow closer to God and to each other as we read and ponder the scriptures. We will not be deceived. We will know for ourselves that these things are true, and the Holy Ghost will bear witness to us of the truth of these things". We have also been promised that if we read the scriptures with a question in mind or a thoughts of what is going on in our lives that we will find the answer in the scriptures. There are great promises that come, if we commit to reading from the scriptures daily, both personally and with our families. The scriptures are full of examples to follow and those not to follow. This act can help us all stay on the path to eternity.
My family is doing well. I am jealous that mom and dad are busy getting to see the boys in this family but not the one and only girl.
I just finished making my first wedding cake for real money. I learned a few things. First I learned that a wedding cake takes longer than I think. 2nd that I must charge more for the amount of time it takes, and third I learned how to put it together so it would not smash on top of each other or slide off. I shall send a picture when I get it downloaded on here so you can all see it. I also have another request to do another one this month. I am thinking about it but am not sure if I am ready for that yet.
As with Allen my kids are counting down the days to be out of school. Brad completed his first year of college classes. He did pretty good. I am waiting to see the grades because this last month or so he and mackenzie have been very trunky. I still think he has at least B's.
Grant is still hoping to have a pilots license by July. The weather makes it hard to fly all the time. He loves to fly though. He also plays in a band called the midlife crisis. They are a couple of old guys who we think really are in midlife, and of course they are always looking for anyone who can do anything musical to come join them. They keep dreaming of going on the road and playing a "gig". In reality they have only played in a couple of settings and that has been at a ward summer party out at his brothers house and once they played for the single women in our ward whom the bishopric held a dinner for when Grant was the bishop.
Mackenzie is playing a little basketball. She wants to get better and is going to open gym at the high school twice a week. She likes it but she dosen't think she is very good. She just needs practice and if I could get any of the players around this house to work with her this summer it would help. She hates school. It is like dread each day getting up to go. She has lots of years left. The young women are headed to Kirtland this summer for camp. I am going with them. We will be staying in tents and cooking on some fire. It should be fun.
That is all the news for now. Hope this won't bore most of you. You can tell I am the girl who likes to expound on things. Your news is much shorter than mine. You boys need to fill in the family news a little more.
Love to you all.
Sandra
